Pixel Balloon

The Pixel Balloon (2004) is a friendly interactive contraption designed for an audience to play with and admire. It is intended that the people who use it have to put in physical effort to communicate just a single letter, which is in direct contrast to many of the other communication media that are available today. By manually inflating a dot matrix of party balloons, groups and individuals can display and communicate messages across an exhibition space. It’s a cross between an interactive sculpture and a giant ticker-tape display. Collaboration with Oliver Collier and James Tobin.
