I love going to supermarkets when traveling. I think they offer a better insight into the culture of a place than tourist traps. When I first came to live in the UK (2004), I’d spend hours browsing the aisles of Tescos, Sainsburys and Morrisons. These everyday common objects were so exotic and foreign to me that I started buying, drawing and tasting them. Food items I’d only read about (mostly through Adrian Mole’s diary) or seen on films suddenly became real. This is an on going series, and I’ll pick up my pen when I get more pocket money.
