Digital sound sculpture workshop in response to works in the ARTIST ROOMS: Martin Creed exhibition at the Harris Museum, Preston. Taking inspiration from the objects in the exhibition and the artists ways of working, devised a series of workshops with Tom Rae Smith.
We ran two digital fabrication workshops making new forms of instruments – in the shape of potted cacti. We were inspired by Work No 960, an installation of 13 cactus plants. Participants created the digital cacti, and went around the Harris to capture sounds. This was then processed to be played back by touching the conductive needles.
We rounded off the workshop with a performance in the cafe, with two of the workshop participants joining in to become performers.
